Nurses petition for involvement in GP commissioning consortia governance

The Nursing Times believes that ‘nurses and midwives must be actively involved in the new commissioning consortia and represented on all boards.’ They have started an online petition to Andrew Lansley to ‘ensure nurses have real influence in shaping the new NHS.’

The Nursing Times is looking for 10,000 signatures. At the date of this posting they had achieved 786.

If any Healthcare Governance Review readers believe that nurses, as a profession, should be actively involved in the governance of GP Consortia, click here to sign the Nursing Times petition.

In reading through the comments of some people who have already signed the online petition, Healthcare Governance Review believes there are some potentially useful comments relating to the role of nurses on boards.
