According to the NHS Confederation, understanding and improving how patients’ experience their care is a key component to successfully delivering high-quality services that are based on their needs. Indeed, patient experience is a defining attribute of quality alongside patient safety and clinical effectiveness.
The Confederation has produced a report that looks at what we know about improving patients’ experiences of hospital care and shares the approaches of both UK and USA hospital providers that have made significant progress in providing services that are truly patient-centred.
The report, Feeling better? Improving patient experience in hospital, also details emerging evidence that hospital boards can achieve better outcomes across their whole organisation when patient experience is a priority.
